SFDA Warns about Taif Potable Water Product under “Barad” Brand

Within the efforts exerted by the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) and pursuant to its role of monitoring and control of all matters related to the safety of the products lying under its responsibility. And, pursuant to the Royal directions to SFDA to ensure that all potable water plants comply with the revised Saudi Specifications No. (409/2000).
In continuation of its mission of auditing and control of potable water plants in order to ensure their compliance with the above referenced Saudi Specifications, it is found according to analysis results that Al Taif Potable Water Product under “Barad” brand has exceeded the maximum permissible limit of bromide
Therefore, SFDA warns consumers not to use this water and dispose of any stock they may have of this brand in order to maintain safety of their health. Moreover, SFDA has addressed Taif Province Municipality (Amana) to take the necessary action to stop the said plant from production and urge it to recall its product from the market until this situation is rectified, and make sure that it complies with the above Standard Specifications.
SFDA is continuing to check and audit all potable water plants to make sure that they comply with the maximum permissible limit of bromide and necessary actions will be taken against violating plants.
