Dr. Aljadhey Participates in the 47th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission in Geneva

The Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), H.E. Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, participated in the launch of the 47th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CODEX), held today in Geneva, Switzerland. The event was attended by several leaders of regulatory organizations from CODEX member states, as well as representatives of international organizations.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus; the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Dr. QU Dongyu (who attended virtually); and the Chairperson of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, Mr. Steven Wearne.

The session began with remarks from Dr. Tedros, who noted that “the global food landscape is evolving rapidly, and we must evolve with it.”

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been a member of Codex since 1968. It also chairs the Coordinating Committee for the Near East and has been a member of the Executive Committee of Codex since 2020.
