SFDA CEO: Saudi Arabia is Witnessing Rapid Development in Medical Innovations and Technologies
The CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), H.E. Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, held a roundtable meeting with several Singaporean private-sector companies operating in the food, drug, and medical device sectors. The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration and explore strategic partnership and investment opportunities within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The roundtable featured an overview of the SFDA’s role, core mandates, and regulatory frameworks. Discussions highlighted key initiatives and incentives provided to empower the private sector; investment opportunities available across Saudi Arabia's food, drug, and medical device markets; and mechanisms to encourage Singaporean companies to establish and expand their presence in the Kingdom, strengthening the partnership between both sides.
During the meeting, Dr. Aljadhey emphasized that Saudi Arabia is witnessing rapid development in the investment environment for advanced technologies and innovative health solutions. This opens up broad horizons for global companies to invest and expand in the Saudi market and to capitalize on the high-quality opportunities offered by priority sectors. He further explained that the Authority is working to create a supportive regulatory environment that fosters innovation and facilitates the market entry of modern products and technologies.
The meeting took place during Dr. Aljadhey’s official visit to the Republic of Singapore to participate in the 30th International Medical Device Regulators Forum (IMDRF) Management Committee Meeting.
As part of his itinerary, Dr. Aljadhey held bilateral meetings with executives from Singaporean companies specializing in innovative health technologies and solutions. He also visited several of these companies to observe the latest innovations in medical robotics, artificial intelligence, and interventional technologies, highlighting the role of these technologies in enhancing the accuracy and safety of medical procedures and showcasing their applications in diagnostic and therapeutic fields to support the SFDA’s strategic commitment to leveraging innovation and modern technologies across its areas of competence.
