2024-06-12
His Excellency the CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Prof. Hisham S. Aljadhey, visited several food factories and facilities in the Makkah region.
His Excellency's inspection visit aimed to review and verify the compliance of these facilities with all technical requirements and specifications. The visit also sought to ensure the availability and quality of necessary supplies, as well as the operational mechanisms of these facilities, to guarantee the safety of food products for pilgrims.
The SFDA supervises and inspects products under its supervision and food establishments located within Makkah and Madinah, in coordination with relevant authorities. It also contributes to raising awareness among workers in catering kitchens by providing general guidance and direction.
Since the beginning of its action plan for the field survey of the Hajj season this year, the SFDA has conducted more than 3,700 visits to the facilities under its control. This includes 478 visits aimed at raising awareness among workers in catering kitchens to ensure compliance with health requirements for food safety, 306 visits for field studies to enhance the safety of products and primary foodstuffs, and 154 visits to medical facilities headquarters.
These efforts are part of the Kingdom's commitment to harnessing all capabilities and providing the best services to the guests of Allah, reflecting the role of the SFDA during the Hajj season 1445 AH in ensuring the safety and quality of food, medicines, and medical devices.
