The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) participated in the 6th Health Innovation Hackathon, held at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) from February 6–9. The event saw participation from several leading government and private entities dedicated to advancing innovation within the healthcare sector.
As a strategic partner of KSAU-HS, the SFDA provided specialized technical guidance. Its experts in digital transformation and artificial intelligence mentored participants as they developed novel solutions for the healthcare industry.
Through its dedicated pavilion, the SFDA presented key regulatory and technological challenges currently facing the sector. This initiative was designed to empower innovators to propose technological solutions that improve regulatory performance and enhance service efficiency.
The SFDA also showcased innovative projects that serve as cornerstones of its digital transformation strategy; most notably the "RASID" smart service and the SFDA Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL). These projects reflect the Authority's efforts to leverage modern technology to support operational sustainability and strengthen its regulatory role.
During the closing ceremony, the SFDA was honored for its role in supporting innovation as a pillar of national transformation and sustainable development. The award recognizes the Authority's growing influence in strengthening the health system and its position as a global leader in adopting advanced technological solutions in line with international best practices.
