"SFDA" warns of "Chaan Fruit Chaat" fruit Seasoning

SFDA warned of buying or consumption of fruit flavoring product "Chaan Fruit Chaat Seasoning" brand (Shan) because it contains ingredients not mentioned on the product card and it may cause an allergic reaction for some people.

SFDA noted that it had allocated through the Alert Centre for Food and crisis management a warning issued by the British Food Standards (FSA), that the company (TRS) in United Kingdom withdraw their fruit product (Chaan Fruit Chaat Seasoning) for the brand (Shan) from Pakistan, and packaged containers weighing 60 grams and expires in 01/22/2016 AD, and carries cargo code (No FCH0011302813 MH03), for containing Sulfur dioxide and soy which are not mentioned on the tariff card on the product, and it could be harmful to health for consumers who suffer from allergies to these ingredients.

SFDA recommended the consumers to avoid consumption of these products and dispose what they have, pointing out that it already spoke to the relevant authorities to take the necessary actions and it required the plant to withdraw the products from local markets.

SFDA confirmed that it will continue to monitor factories producing drinking bottled water and it will monitor all products traded in local markets and it will take all the necessary actions against offending factories, SFDA called to report any violation through Alert System for Food and crisis management center, via e-mail: alert.food@sfda.gov.sa, or Fax: 0112751921
