2025-10-30

The CEO of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), H.E. Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey, launched the National Network for Drugs and Medical Products Safety During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding on the sidelines of the SFDA's participation in the Global Health Exhibition. The Exhibition was held in Riyadh from October 27–30, with the participation of more than 2,000 entities from around the world.

The network aims to become the largest and most comprehensive data source for evaluating the safety of drugs and medical products use during pregnancy and breastfeeding in Saudi Arabia. It has already successfully integrated approximately 267,500 records for pregnant women and linked 112,000 records for mothers and newborns, utilizing the health records of participating hospitals.

The SFDA seeks to expand the network to include a larger number of health entities from the public and private sectors to provide massive and reliable data.

The launch of this Network confirms the SFDA’s efforts to enhance the health sector and solidify the Saudi Arabia’s role as a leading country in the field of maternal and infant safety, aligning with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program, a key initiative of Saudi Vision 2030.
