The SFDA Participated in the First International Medical Exhibition (Saudi Health)

The SFDA, represented by its medical devices sector, participated in the first international medical exhibition which was held in the Four Season Hotel in Riyadh and inaugurated by his Excellency d. Hamad bin Abdullah Almanee, the minister of health. It worth mentioning, that it started from the 17th to the 20th of Jumada Alawal, 1428H, and it was accompanied with a distinctive scientific program and attended by a large number of officials and specialists.

The SFDA, represented by its food sector, organizes a lecture entitled "Best International Procedures for Limiting Pesticides Residue in Food and Lessons of Other Countries Experiences". The lecture is addressed by the vice general director of The Authority of Food Safety in Hungary d. Erbard Embrous, on Wednesday 27-5-1428H, corresponding to 13-6-2007AD, at 10, 30 a.m. in the SFDA headquarter.
These efforts reflect the educational role played by the SFDA to raise the awareness level of people i.e. consumers as well as workers in food fields.

The SFDA Plans to Set a National Project to Monitor Residues of Pesticides and Chemical Pollutants in Food

The SFDA food sector is planning to establish a center to monitor residues of pesticides and chemical pollutants in food. In this regard, d. Ibraheem bin Saad Almuhaize, the vice executive president of food affairs stated that food sector will start establishing a laboratory to monitor pesticides residues as a first step of this center.

The SFDA Organizes a Three- Day Blood Donation Campaign

Cooperating with King Faisal Specialist Hospital, the SFDA is organizing a campaign for blood donation starting from Saturday 8-6-1428H, corresponding to 23-6-2007AD and It will last for three days starting at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A specialized team will exist with their carriage in front of the SFDA headquarter to have blood from donors whom don’t belong to the SFDA.

54% Believe That Locally Produced Food is less Polluted and Healthier

A large number of people participated in a poll of the SFDA about the less polluted and healthier food. 54.27% believe that food produced locally is healthier and less polluted, while 27.64% chose imported food for being better. The remaining 18.09% voted for (I don’t know). This poll shows the importance of raising medical and nutritional awareness in the community in order to educate people in these areas.
