D. Mohammed bin Ahmed Alkanhal the executive acting president of the SFDA stated that the survey of monitoring food sector foreign workers revealed that it is a big challenge to the SFDA since several organizations are carrying out this duty and food laboratories of land borders need reframing.

A number of SFDA employees has completed a first aid course given by the Saudi Red Crescent Assembly cooperating with the administrative services department. The course was held in the main hall of the SFDA and attended by more than thirtee employee from SFDA different sectors. It lasted three days averaging three hours daily and varied from practical to theoretical lessons.
The trainees learnt the basics of how to save lives of victims, how to offer first aid while protecting oneself and what are life threatening cases and indications.

Since the SFDA believe in importance of improving systems and laws of food in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and within the project of setting a Saudi food law draft, the SFDA organized a meeting entitled '' Food Law- a Comparative Study of International Systems'' on Sunday 3-5-1427H, corresponding to 20-5-2007. D. Dived Jukes, food law specialist who participated in setting laws of food in many countries, delivered the speech.

In a poll raised by the SFDA on its intranet portal about advertisements of drugs and food products, 68.35% voted that they do not trust such ads and consumers are deceived by them. However, 24.31% think that they are realistic to some extent, while 3.67% believe that they are quite realistic. The remaining 3.67% voted (I don’t know).

The SFDA drug sector started an educational program of medicine; which aims to introduce the authority, raise consumers awareness about issues related to drugs and their different kinds whether herbal or chemical and the SFDA role in protecting the community. Some of SFDA employees participated in a symposium entitled "Activities of Authorizing Products and Procedures of Conformity Assessment", which was organized by the Saudi Arabia authority of standards and specifications. The participants were: food consultants and specialists, chemists and specialists of medical devices from SFDA different sectors.

D. David Jukes, an international food laws expert and a professor of food law in Reading University, examined the Saudi food law draft with the officials of the SFDA to ratify its final version before submitting it to specialized authorities.

A number of SFDA employees from its different sectors has attended the workshop of GSO (Standardization Organization for GCC) and UNIDO (United Nation Industrial Development Organization) entitled "Harmonization of Standards, Technical Regulations, Conformity Assessment, Metrology and Accreditation in the GCC Countries" during the 2nd to 3rd of June, 2007, in the headquarter of the Saudi Arabia Authority of Standards and Specifications in Riyadh.

The SFDA, represented by its medical devices sector, participated in the first international medical exhibition which was held in the Four Season Hotel in Riyadh and inaugurated by his Excellency d. Hamad bin Abdullah Almanee, the minister of health. It worth mentioning, that it started from the 17th to the 20th of Jumada Alawal, 1428H, and it was accompanied with a distinctive scientific program and attended by a large number of officials and specialists.
