Thuwal, Saudi Arabia, January 26, 2025 - The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and the Center of Excellence for Smart Health (KCSH) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) hosted a workshop today, uniting prominent researchers, scientists, and officials to discuss the regulation and innovation of medical devices utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnology.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) detected approximately 225 violating facilities and 541 products during 1,387 inspection tours conducted across all regions of the Kingdom in June 2024.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has announced the ability to issue certificates of conformity for shipments from the country of origin through the "Faseh Cosmetic Products in the Electronic Clearance (FASEH) System." This initiative aims to enhance the importers' experience by automating the appointment of approved companies and enabling electronic submission of clearance requests, thus expediting the procedures for clearing cosmetic product shipments.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has seized approximately 5 tons of expired poultry with manipulated expiration dates, along with poultry and meat of unknown origin, from a warehouse in Riyadh. These products were intended for sale and distribution through food stores and markets.

During routine inspection tours, SFDA inspectors discovered the infringing foodstuffs, as well as tools and labels used to alter expiration dates.
