The Food and Drug Authority, in terms of its responsibilities as a legislative regulatory body, aims to ensure food safety for humans and animals through the development of an effective control system that promotes food safety and quality from production to consumption based on scientific bases, to support the decision-making process, to protect consumer health in the Kingdom.

    Based on the responsibilities and tasks entrusted to the food sector in the Authority; Such as preparing and designing national program plans for monitoring contaminants and residues in food, preparing scientific opinions and reports for risks associated with food and feed, and setting relevant technical regulations and standard specifications. In addition to the implementation of scientific studies and research to fill the shortcomings in local data to establish specialized scientific databases related to food safety. For this purpose, an advisory board has been established affiliated with the food sector to achieve scientific goals. It provides scientific support and conducts research and scientific studies according to the priorities of the food sector.
