The SFDA hosted Dr. Osama Fayyad, the Executive Vice President of Research and Strategic Data Solutions of Yahoo company, which has the well known search engine Yahoo! on Monday, in order to discuss cooperation means between the two parts in fields of developing information intranet portals and electronic publishing. The SFDA, represented by its Food Sector, accompanied with the Saudi delegation specialized in Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures, that belongs to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, participated in the Forty- First meeting of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures Committee in William Ropard Center- Geneva, during the 31st of March to the 4th of April, 2008.

The SFDA, represented by its drug sector, intends to organize a workshop about drugs pricing, in Riyadh Intercontinental during the 15-16-5-1429H, 20-21-5-2008, in order to improve the mechanism of drug pricing, to have pricing rules that assure providing medicine around the Kingdom with suitable prices and fulfill the interest of all parties. The SFDA, by this workshop, seeks to review the monitoring regulations that relate to its duties and improve them by suggesting the needed modifications.

The SFDA, represented by its medical devices sector, participated in the second Saudi Medical Exhibition under the auspices of his Excellency the Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Almane. It was held in Al-Jeraisy Hall in Riyadh, on the 15th to the 18th of Rabee Alakher, 1429H; and supervised by the General Directorate of Medical Equipment.

The SFDA, represented by its medical devices sector, has joined the National Competent Authority Report (NCAR) that belongs to the Global Harmonization Task Force (GHTF), which includes five members. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia considered the second member that joined the (NCAR) after Hong Kong.
It worth mentioning too, that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has lately joined the Safety Alert Dissemination System (SADS), which belongs to the Asian Harmonization Working Party (AHWP).

The SFDA, represented by its food sector, hosted a Netherlands delegation specialized in field of food safety during the 21st to the 23rd of Rabee Alakher, 1428H; that equals the 27th to the 29th of April, 2008, in order to discuss means of cooperation and exchange experiences between the SFDA and the Netherlands Authority of Food Safety and Consumers Products about modern methods to monitor imported food which includes inspecting customs ports and laboratories.
