Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) has recently compelled transporters of drug, pharmaceutical , herbal and veterinary products to transport drugs in refrigerated containers equipped with temperature indicators to reflect storage and drug shipment conditions during transportation. This comes in SFDA efforts to adopt the best drug storage and distribution practices.

SFDA Public Relations Department organized a lecture for SFDA employees, in cooperation with Saudi Diabetes Philanthropic Society, entitled: “ Health Awareness about Diabetes” delivered by M/S Hbbibah Ocheck on Tuesday 1/5/1432H. The lecture was accompanied with Blood Sugar Test activity in addition to provision of medical advice and consultations by professionals, related to diet, ideal weight and regular blood sugar tests for patients with diabetes in addition to distribution of awareness booklets and fliers.

Following the news about nuclear pollution of Japanese food products, and based on the news released by INFOSAN, Japanese Government and EU represented by RASFF; and UNFDA. SFDA imposed further controls and restrictions on these products to ensure the highest degree of safety and security of food & feed imports from Japan, as follows:

SFDA participated in the “Mother & Baby Exhibition” held during the period 6-8/5/1432H in Al Khobar, East Region. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Mohammed Al Abdullah, advisor to the Supreme Commission for Tourism, East Region.

SFDA participates for the second time, consecutively, in the activities of the 26th. National Culture & Heritage Festival (Janadriyah) during the period 9-25/5/1432H under the Royal Auspice of The Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.

SFDA won the 4th. Place in the Best Saudi Business Environment Competition for Government Organizations for the year 2011. Al Eqtisadiyah Referee Committee announced the names of six government organizations winners after a fierce competition included 52 organizations, wherein SFDA won the 4th. Place shared by the General Organization for Water Desalination .

H.E The Chief Executive Officer of SFDA met HE the Ambassador of the Netherlands to the Kingdom, Mr. Ron Striker and the Agricultural counselor Mr. Philip De Young V. to discuss the aspects of mutual cooperation between the two countries and the possible means of strengthening the relationship in the field of control and monitoring food, drug, medical devices & products

SFDA Drug Sector will host the meeting of GCC Animal Resources Managers Standing Committee next week , Sunday & Monday mornings 20 -21/5/1432H (24-25/4/2011) at SFDA Head Office –Drug Sector Building. The meeting will focus on two major points: 1- veterinary medicine practicing regulations and its implementation bylaws & 2- registration of veterinary drugs and products regulations and its implementation bylaws in GCC Countries.
